I'm finding it rather difficult getting a quote on a Puma 1.7i.

I know they are group 12, but I wouldn't have thought they were a high risk car really.

I'm 19, 1 NCB and it seems only admiral can insure me for less than £2k fully comp.

Anybody else have a 1.7 puma and are around my age group? Who are you insured with?

Thanks.

I was thinking about the focus but does the focus handle aswell as a Puma?

I've had a go in my mates 1.7 puma and was impressed. It was pretty nippy & handled pretty well.

Not quite as well probably, but I would say the difference between the two is a lot less than you would imagine.

The 2.0 Zetec got wider tyres too so will make up for the more weight over the Puma. Stick on good tyres, maybe get a set of good quality 30-35mm lowering springs to make the ride a little harder and it will hold the road much better than you would expect.

Plus you will have a larger boot, and the rear legroom is good. If I remember you wanted something a bit easier to live with than your Saxo? The Focus will give you that, but still handle really well.

yep, thanks for the advice. :)

the pumas are strange.......i'm 19, have a group 16 2.5l v6 mondeo, and can insure a group 17 bmw 330i no problem, but my insurer tell me to come back when im 21 for the puma 1.7?

Indeed, I don't see many in a bad state in scrapyards either
