I bourght a new coolermaster PSU today, and it doenst work when my pump is connect to it, im currently hotwiring it cable green-black, if i connect fans and stuff it works but as soon as i connect the pump it turns off after bout a second. any ideas??

my pump works fine hot wired on my old PSU.

thanks

ive got it going seems that it wont start unless its got a few items drawing a fair current from it, and wont let me hotwire it either. but with the whole pc going its working a charm

its a CM real power 550w

As with any good PSU. You cannot leave a very low loaded PSU on for too long - they are not designed for no load. Usually it requires at least one hard disk to get it going - check the PSU manual for minimum load on each rail and make sure you hit it.

Be thankful it isn't starting - a cheap one, when you do this, will probably still run but slowly begin to blow-up - I've seen it happen on a too low loaded PSU.

You learn something new everyday on here. :D

Seriously, i did'nt know that under loading a psu caused problems. My watercooling components are powered off their own psu so that i can run the loop independantly of the pc. It is a 200w AT switchable psu and all it powers is the pump (50z) and 3x120mm fans. Will this be ok in the long term?
