pump/waterblock

That my friend is then definitely your cpu then

Have a look on Youtube for guides on how to replace the thermal material between the die and the IHS....

or you could put yours up for sale and then buy another one, thus retaining your warranty. Your choice....

Defo not the pump, i'm running a dcp2.2 combo and i have no problems running similiar watercooling hardware.

Wasn't there a thread on this about poor IHS contact??

Good luck. Let us know how you get on with switching the TIM.

I'm not sure which TIM would be best - Are MX2 and 4 non conductive, and therefore would they be suitable?

havent bothered removing the ihs yet, upgraded my case and rads. will get round to ihs soon tho.
moved from 2 x 240mm rads to 1 x 360(g-charger) and 1 x 240mm (ek xt). still lots of work to be done, new fans and braided psu cables.

15 mins of small fft max temp 79c was previously hitting 93c
gpu idle 32c, 10mins of furmark 39c
motherboard temps has dropped from 30c to 24c

so all round good improvement and it looks a hell of a lot better.

That does sound like you've finally reached your target. I really don;t like the idea of removing IHS in order to fix the Intel problem - and voiding the warranty while you're there.

You sticking with the setup you've got now?

yeah pretty happy with the way my system has turned out, no plans on changing my setup yet, possibly add another 7970 with koolance block later on.
