This Halloween I think I'll have a bash at this too

Only thing is that for me - pumpkins need to glow with flickering eyes etc.

I just go for the normal two eyes, nose, spiky mouth.
Works doesn't it, after a few burns of a candle it'll become a blob anyway.

I think you're going to need the proper tools in order to do it to anywhere near the level in the tutorial, about £5 on ebay for the two ribbon loops + some other bits then £2-3 for a craft knife.
