Pumpkin pie...

Can't say I have. Pumpkin pie is ok. But love halloween only time you can get pumpkins and south African pumpkin fritters in cinnamon sugar are to die for.

I'm partial to a slice of pumpkin pie, but I tend to favour the 'less hassle' approach and open a can of Libby's Pumpkin mix rather than mess around with the raw ingredient.

Pumpkin fritters with cinnamon sugar sound rather nyom though, Acid!

I love it, discovered it about 3 years ago. Last two years I have made it with my own pumpkins, it nice that it's seasonal as well, unless you use a can of course.

The BBC Good Food receipe is the one I use, and it's supposed to be pretty authentic. The cream that goes with it is a must!

Try and get a Culinary pumpkin as they are a bit sweeter, not essential though. You will need one that weighs about 1.1-1.2kg to get the 550g of flesh.

You can buy canned pumpkin here? I had no idea...

I used a decent sized one from Asda which is more of a carving type but worked well when baked.

Most of the supermarkets should be starting to stock it now, especially with Halloween and Thanksgiving rapidly approaching.

Failing that there are plenty of delis and food stores that are stocking up, so it ought to be getting easier to come by.

I made one this week using Anthony Worral Thompsons recipe on the beeb website. I quite like it but would definitely add some sugar to mix as the pumpkin I used wasn't especially sweet.

My GF makes pumpkin pie, but shes been complaining about the pants size of pumpkins this year. Pumpkin fritters I may have to have a go.

I have made it a few times with cans of pumpkin i brought back from the states. I might have to try it with fresh pumpkin to see if it tastes better.
