I'm just doing a presentation for Uni where I've got to devise a PR campaign as a group. We're doing ours on a music festival and came up with 4 bands (admittedly none of which would go anywhere near Swansea but it doesn't have to be realistic :p), one guy in the group said he wanted a punk and hardcore section to the festival.
I know absolutely nothing about that kind of music besides knowing I don't like it :p But as I'm the one sorting out the powerpoint presentation for it, I need to know a few band names so I can throw in some details.

Any ideas?

Transplants, NoFX, MxPx, Fenix Tx, Nerf Herder.

i dont do punk, but i know those guys. ooh, Rancid, too.

Punk -
The Sex Pistols.
The Clash
Iggy Pop (maybe)
Looking at the guy I'm fairly sure he doesn't mean stuff like that, I just know he rattled off a long list of stuff I'd never heard of and I've heard of all 3 of those. :o

Hardcore:

Yaphet Kotto
Fear Before The March Of Flames
Refused
Converge
Gospel
Funeral Diner
Navajo Code
The Fall Of Troy
Curlupanddie
The Banner
Envy

It's like reading another language :p
Thanks all for the suggestions, should be plenty. :D

More "nu" emo-esque stuff than post-hardcore in places, but good choices :)

that's such a good name. are they good?

Name was taken from the Cap'n Jazz album "Analphabetapolothology", just as "We Are Scientists" took their name from another song off the same album. Very good album it is too.

The Scary Kids album "The City Sleeps In Flames" is pretty good. It has a couple of excellent tracks (the opener for instance), but sometimes it's pretty childish lyrically. It's worth having a listen to though.
