Puppy worming

Couple of hours after the tablet was taken.

But most worming tablets dissolve the worms, so you wont see it in there poo.

Check the Pups diet, try to give him dry food, the Vets also sell a special tinned Puppy food that will help but its around 2.50 a can......The diarrhea was probable brought on by the seperation from its perants and new Home, a new diet, and perhaps worms.....
What sort of Pup is it?
I recommend that if it doesn't clear after a couple of days to take back to the Vets....Its a lot of Blood to loose for such a small thing....

:( poor little thing. I remember when I had bloody diarrhea it wasn't worms though :p

I would ask the vet how long it would last/ should last. Or I'd ask the breeder for advice as they have seen it all before and will know what to do.

What kind of pup is it? Are you willing to share pics of it? :)

Hope he/she gets better though

How old is the puppy? And what are you feeding it?

He is 7 weeks old, and we was feeding him Butchers puppy food (meat) But since yesterday has been on rice. Has been 24 hours since he had the tablet and his no better. He's a Jack russell will get a pic later on.

He's too young at 7 weeks for solids he should still be weaning, keep him on rice and try some very small pieces of WHITE fish or chicken, nothing oily, make sure he has plenty of water.

Also the diarrhoea/blood sounds like Cholic not worms, you should really get him back to the vets ASAP diarrhoea is really deadly to puppies :(

Bought a Cocker Spaniel Pup a few weeks ago, and I had the same with the Blood, rice is good and pasta, we mix our food, a bit of wet food rice & pasta with a bit of dry mix all mixed together....Once we got her diet sorted it cleared up quite quickly....
Hope you get him sorted OK...

The vet was pretty certain it's worms as his belly looks like a football. I shall be taking him back to the vet's tomorrow

what diet did the breeder have him on? we got a diet sheet including things like weetabix and milk which we stuck to for a couple of weeks. if you drastically alter their diet it can cause stomach upsets.

you shouldnt have bought a puppy younger than 8 weeks as they dont properly ween until then, also the breeder should have been worming them with drontal liquid puppy wormer as the mother can pass worms to them from like 3 weeks.
