Morning All,

I purchased a Fitbit Blaze from Argos in January.

A couple of months back it started to develop a fault with the Bluetooth disconnecting from the phone so whilst out on runs it would lose the GPS connection.

Fitbit were great and sent out as replacement, this one is even worse as I can't even get out the door without it disconnecting.

I think its more software than hardware but the thing is now technically not fit for purpose.

Would it be possible to take the thing back to Argos for a refund / Credit? I don't want it replacing anymore and will be staying well clear of any Fitbit product!

I had the Flagship (Surge I think it was called) and it had GPS built in so did not matter if it lost sync with mobile (all the time) but approaching 1 year on I sent it back along with the Aria scales to "the big river" it was buggy as hell, now I see they finally have a new Flagship out after all the other models in the range being updated long ago.

I use the Pacer (mypacer.com) App on my mobile now, I paid for Premium after 1 week trial but you can use it freely.

It has GPS and I use offline Maps on Google so as no DATA is used out running and it reported about the same steps as the Fitbit before i returned it but obv unlike a watch its not always on my around the home etc.

At this point they'd likely refer you to the manufacturer anyway, and especially so given it's not even the original one Argos sold you, but a manufacturer's replacement. No harm in trying though.
Unless they bother to check the serial number, he’d probably get away with it... but yeah, after this length of time they will probably refer him back to the manufacturer.

Thanks Guys.

Chatted with an online adviser @ Argos, they need a reference number from Fitbit to deem the product faulty. They would then be happy to replace/exchange.

If I am honest this is the last time I purchase any Fitbit product, but also any future purchases will always be done through Amazon. Only went to Argos as I had £50 of vouchers to use up anyway.

Garmin have some high end kit, last time I looked was just before it was to launch in April so its well out now and should be good/bad feedback by now.

Although I would love a high end one, have my eyes on the Forerunner 35(I think its called)...has everything I need and compared to the Blaze has the GPS within the watch.

Reading around the net it really does seem Fitbit are so unreliable/inaccurate I am really put off by anything they do in the future. Their support however have been fantastic, just let down on the main thing...the product!

I'd agree. I bought the Charge HR from JL more than a year ago. Within 6 months of occasional use (play a bit of footy once or twice per week, maybe a 5k run and some gym) the rubber started peeling away from the body. It happened to a colleague of mine too so it makes me think this is a common thing.

Spoke to Fitbit and they sent me a replacement which also exhibited the same issues within another 6-8 months, along with it randomly buzzing/recording an activity! In the end I took it back to JL for a refund.

Will probably buy a Xiaomi band although the app ecosystem for that device isn't as good, it's better than nothing and way cheaper.

I've had a Blaze and the Aria scales for over a year and not had any issues. Maybe a bad batch?

Do you run or play sports every week though? Might be a bad batch but considering my colleague had the same issue and I've seen people on the tube with the same fault, I considered it to be just bad adhesive. Which is probably why they made removable straps in version 2.

I'm convinced that's why they moved to replaceable bands on the new flagship model. Gave up on my surge after I had to replace it for a third time :(

I hit a heavy bag twice a week and lift weights every second day but nothing more active than that.

Im on my 9th Charge HR after 20 months. Constant strap bubbling and fitbit don't care, just send out a replacement that lasts a few months. Wouldn't waste my money on another fitbit product.

OcUK don't sell Fitbits or scales, you're allowed to say Amazon.

Fitbit is terrible, avoid.
Just to offset this, I bought my Fitbit One from Amazon in 2013. After nearly 11,000 miles logged, the battery only lasted five days instead of the original ten. Obviously it's well out of warranty so I contacted Fitbit as I can't see the same model on sale any more.
I explained what was happening, they asked me to do a couple of tests and then determined that the battery was on the way out. They offered me 50% discount on a new model (very nice of them considering it's four years old) but I replied saying that none of the current models suit my requirements.

They sent me a brand spanking new replacement Fitbit One, totally free of charge.

I don't think they're terrible at all.

Yeah their support is brilliant but I suspect they invest in that because their products' build quality is poor. I've had 3 in the past 4 years, Charge, Charge HR and now the Surge. All of them had to be replaced mind once :p

I had to superglue the strap. Granted it isn’t a mess but to stop it peeling away that I found out the glue they used seems to dry up? Then had to use one of those sleeves.

Fitbits are hideously unreliable.

Weve had 3 exchanges of hers through currys, we just rock up “this ones knackered” and they give us another one.

Fitbits are hideously unreliable.

Again, I can only go from personal experience with mine. The same unit, bought in 2013 and has been absolutely everywhere with me since then, as soon as I get up in the morning, it's attached to me and only gets separated from my body when I cover myself in water.
Not a problem once and if the battery hadn't reached end of life, I'd still be using it. I see no reason to suspect the new One won't last as long.

Of course, I suppose it's possible I've got the only reliable Fitbit on the planet. But that's unlikely.
