As it stands I have 2 Dell 24" Monitors:-

Dell UltraSharp 2407WFP - 24"
Dell UltraSharp 2408WFP - 24"(with Displayport + Cable)

I have a HIS ATI 4870x2 Graphics card.

I will get a new card to use the Eye Infinity...

So the main thing is to get a new 24" monitor to have a x3 screen setup, but I can`t afford the new Dell UltraSharp U2410 24".
So I thought about getting the Dell ST2410 24" Widescreen LCD Monitor,

which is a lot cheaper.

Would I have to set the res of the other 2 Dell Ultrasharp monitors which both run at 1920 x 1200 to 1920 x 1080 to use new monitor to get Eye Infinity to work?

Would you think it would still look nice going down to a lower res, and would the new 5870 card handle x3 setup?

Cheers Purple.;)

I am not sure you can mix resolutions with Eyefinity so likely going to end up running all 3 at 1080 while eyefinity is active. This will produce a black bar at top and bottom of the screen.

I thought about going for three ST2410 but decided against in the end. Especially as I only bought a 5850 which I doubt will handle full rest triple 24 at max. 5870 you stand to get away with good settings. There are plenty of eyefinity videos sporting just that setup.

Why don't you buy a used 2407 or 2408 for your setup so you don't have to mix resolutions and panel types.

It depends how the Ultrasharp monitors handle a non-native resolution. They'll either do a 1:1 mapping and leave black bars or they'll stretch the image.

I'd echo what Konzul said and get another Ultrasharp second hand - it'll make the extended desktop feel more seamless. You then may not have to worry about backlighting being a different colour for the 'new' monitor. :)

Thanks for info guys...I`ll do what Konzul advised and look for a used 24" Dell.
I`ve got to say, we can always count on each other for great advice and direction on here.
All the best to all for 2010.:)
