A bunch of extremely attractive girls were going round town on friday trying to get people to sign up. When they came up to me to ask i couldn't tell if it was because they noticed i lift or thought i needed to start lifting :(

Well, dumbells going only up to about 36kg is the first bad stuff...

I know ours go up to 50 at least, but not sure how much heavier... I've only really looked at the top row. Which goes up to about 24...

I go to Pure Gym in Sheffield. It's perfect for me. Finish work at 10, go straight there and do an hours work. I do it mostly to help with my MTB'ing fitness. So the lack of "big weights" doesn't really bother me.

If it makes you feel any better / less rage inclined... sounds like it would have been a crap read anyways.

Lol, thanks for that.

Perfect for me. Gets rid of the meathead idiots that can't truly handle them properly without throwing them down risking someone's toes or the dumbbells themselves.
Spent over 20 years in a good percentage of the gyms around here and the same kind of douchebags abuse each gym they go in.
I used to lift 40s for incline pressing, shrugs, rows etc. Not now though, no where near, so 36kg max is ok for me. Plus i can easily get around it by doing something else.
Some meatheads can't think that far forward, so meh! ;)

It's also direct debit only and that will thin out some of the gold tooth "ya get me bruvv" brigade right away as they only want to pay with cash from their drug dealing earnings.

Not stereotyping of course....:D

But it's about time a gym did take these steps to gently eliminate the a-holes that end up breaking most of the kit and/or bring their intimidating attitudes into the gym which stop others from wanting to train there.
They've also promised to clamp down on the use of mobile phones in the gym. Too many twonks will do a set....send a text...do a set...send a text....GET OFF THE KIT AND DO ONE YOU WASTER!!
That's my biggest bugbear tbh.

Just popped in again at lunchtime to have another gander, yep, looking forward to Thursday.

Meh, I use my phone all the time in the gym. Well only when I'm on the bike chilling watching funnies.

Lol, yeah, buts that's fine, but you can surely understand the need to NOT use it during a weights session. And the frustration it causes others waiting to use the equipment.

What about those strength training who are resting for 2-3minutes at a time?

People should just ask if they can use it whilst they rest. But yes I can and why I don't use my phone in the gym.

The main problem that I found with the pure gym in Brighton is that it was far too busy. The kit was decent but there was just never enough of it. It was cheap though!
