Just joined this place to try it out.

Had a code to remove the joining fee, which made it better value.

Now, are there any users on here?

I have a couple of very quick questions, that concern me a little as I had bowel surgery years ago, and tend to need the toilets a little more than normal folks.

1) What facilities are open after 12? The website is not clear, saying changing rooms are closed, but showers are open...??

2) Are the changing rooms separate to the locker room? If the changing room is closed after 12, does this mean you cannot lock your things away?

3) Are the changing rooms communal?! or "sexed" ?

Thanks!!

I've just joined my local and I know Delvis uses them too.
I didn't know anything was closed at different times in fact considering it says they're only staffed 6am till 10pm I'm not sure how they'd manage that although maybe it changes by gym, at mine the lockers are in a group outside the changing rooms so can be used any time and there is separate mens and womens.

1) at pure MK there is a seperate changing room that is just off the gym floor and for use out of hours, i dont know if there is a shower available.

2) the showers are part of the changing rooms. There are lockers available on the gym floor.

3)showers and changing facilities are male/female seperate

Go and ask them, or ring them. Most likely going to be gym specific depending on location :p

Just had a quick look and couldn't find anything on the website about things closing at certain times.

Says this in membership t's+c's

The Changing Rooms and Sunbeds will not be available for use between the hours of Midnight and 5 a.m. However, the Disabled Toilet and Shower Facility will be open 24/7.

Really vague statement. Cant really work anything out from that.

Probably best giving them a call as Morba said or chasing someone down in the gym to ask then.

I am pretty sure I covered all your questions in my response.

Yes you did, and thanks for taking the time to post.

I'm sure that a lot of them are slightly different, and it would be retarded of them to not enable people to get changed after midnight, as thats the whole damn point!

Just out of interest, how late do peoples gyms get really REALLY quiet..?

I went in at 17:30, and it was so busy it was utterly stupid. I joined as I planned to go at after 10pm, then a big shake, then straight to bed most nights.

Is post 10pm generally really quiet?

Obviously Ive looked at the graphs of useage, but without actually showing any real numbers its hard to tell how many people are in at that time!

Military gym for a tiny unit of less than 30 people - less than half of them even use it at all, and never regularly. Almost always totally empty. Lovely.

:edit: doesn't really help you I know :p

Most gyms, even 24hr ones will be quiet come 10pm.

It's a great time to train if you can get your food in and then sleep without an issue.

I left DW today and may consider the Pure Gym as an interim solution until my home gym is fully kitted out....The Pure Gym is 10 minute walk from my house, and MMA gym I train "combat" at is a 10 minute drive, they have a great weights area but the weights area closes pretty early which is a pain for me, so considering Pure. (Plus then I can do spin classes).

You still there Syla5? You came from a DW iirc - how does it compare?

Pure > DW. Round plates, £11 per monht, open 24hrs so I can get down and fit in a decent workout in the mornings. The only downside is db's to 36kg only but wrist weights can push this to 38/40kg if/when I need to go past 36kg.
The squat racks are just the wrong height for me so I have to go one rung lower. Overall I am happier at pure then I was at DW.

Thanks mate. I'll go and check it out this week. The biggest bonus is the 24 hour opening, meaning I can get in at 0500 on days I need to head in London. Even after 2200 will be possible as well, cool :)

36 is a bit crap. I don't tend to DB Row with less than 40.

Standing Cable rows, BB Bent over row, Seated row, wrist weights for added 2-4kg etc

plenty of alternatives out there. I have some what fallen in love with strict standing one arm cable rows, really feeling the squeeze and pull in my back its great!

Hex plates aren't ideal, but I can't ignore the fact I still made decent progress on my deadlifts using them.
