Purely hypothetical musings on the failure to display registration marks...

The main issue was that while it is readable to the human eye, the anpr computer/camera can't read it. The front plate is a reflective vinyl sticker.

also, anyone else wondered why all police officers put their hands in their 'gillets' in this manner? are they taught the position at police school? is it supposed to be menancing? It's clearly subconsiously bothered me for some time because I'm feeling traces of genuine anger flowing through my fingers and into my keyboard!

I believe the main reason is to prevent a would-be attacker from grabbing their hands.

So the car was seized because he was driving it carelessly or inconsiderately, in a manner causing alarm, distress or annoyance, not because it had illegal number plates?

Well they fined him for the plate...I dont know the full story I wasn't there that night. I have been out in his car tonight after getting it remapped....it's bloody rapid. 410bhp, dsg, quattro...just unbelievably quick.

Ah, that sounds more reasonable. So for the illegal number plates he received a £60 FPN, but the car was actually seized (Under Section 59) because he was doing something considerably more daft with it ;)

He has received multiple fines though even on his old car with the same plate (just normal, not a sticker) for spacing.
