Hi guys and gals,

This will be my first time watercooling :)

I am trying to figure out if push pull at a low rpm will be quieter than push or pull only at the higher rpm required for the same performance.

Will be using a 480mm rad low fpi rad.

Thanks in advance.

Yes, noise isn't really additive. Two fans both making 7dB will not be noisier than one, and much quieter than one at 14dB, the static pressure performance will also increase (but not the airflow, much).

Thanks for the reply.

Just done a bit more research and it would seem that two fans at 7db individually, equate to 10db overall. Sound levels look to increase by roughly 2 db per fan after that.

Still trying to get my head around whether 8 fans at 600rpm will be as quiet as 4 at the higher rpm needed to match performance.

Probably just over thinking it!

Although if 8 are just as quiet it will sway me to go for the Nexxxus Monsta over the UT60; the general consensus seems to be that 80mm is too thick for push or pull only

For what it's worth, I have four fans at 600RPM, one at 500RPM and one at 700RPM, they are all just as quiet (the 700RPM one is the most expensive). And they are all drowned out by a 1200RPM fan.
