Okay it has a few issues:

Rust rear left arch.
Drivers seat worn extremely, I'll have to re-leather it.
Clutch worn ( but not that excessively yet to fail MOT, but it's noticeable under hard pedal to the metal accel).

All in all about 1-1.5k to fix which is no biggy since my budget for the car is 3500€.

But, it's only 1000€, fully loaded, otherwise in good condition, no scuffs or dents and very few scratches. Took a test drive and love the sound of the V6, so much nicer than of my Volvo, the ride quality is sublime in comparison too, my Volvo has quite hard suspension but this just glides over the road :D. 1997 2.5v6 24v Elegance 210.000 km on the clock ( 10k less than my volvo)

Climatronic, Cruise, Heated seats, elec seats, heated mirrors, a nice LCD screen, leather, etc.

If it passes MOT fine on monday, I'm picking it up friday or saturday.

Think I might have to get into the export business, I turn these things down for £300!

It's okay. Our rip off insurance prices mean that it all balances out in the end ;).

But Seriously, That doesn't really look like the best of buys. Rusty, tatty High miles, ***** tow bar (did you at least ask what it had been towing?), lavender exterior and tan interior. Just be glad Fox is on Holiday...

Why exactly are you getting rid of the Volvo again?

Even so, Surely €2,500 would buy something better than THAT?

He has said he is happy to sped 3500 on a car, so why spend 1000 on that indeed.

Surely that LCD isn't standard, neither are those gauges, and the tow bar would put me right off too. Miles...well I'm not fussed about those so long as a car has decent history of servicing etc.

Why not just purchase a car that isn't ****** to begin with? I'm confused. Changing a clutch for that engine won't be cheap I imagine.

Because 1997-onwards 2.5v6 galants are usually 4-5k here... This is a bargain.

Rust is a matter of sanding it down, filling it up, and spraying it. It's a well known issue with these cars and most of them from this year have it.
Seats are nothing important imo.
Clutch is the only real point, but it's drivable fine as it is, it will not cost a lot to fix I'm sure... Plus I''ll probably go abroad to fix it, dad did his corolla clutch for 250€ in poland, this, while more expensive, wouldn't be more than 500 at most I think there. It's 750€ to fix at the dealer here for the whole clutch assembly according to the Galant fan forum, peanuts.

Because it is the first one this cheap in this condition, I've looked at ones for 2500€ that looked like sheds in comaprison to this.
Towbar is only a plus imo, if I get hit from behind it's protecting my bumper.
So what that it isn't standard the gauges and the lcd, it's a nice addon imo.
The car DOES have a service history... The milage is low imo, it'll be the lowest milage car compared to our other 3 cars.

Up to 4k there is nothing else that ticks all my boxes except a scooby turbo the 210bhp one, various saabs, various volvo's, and various pre 1995 cars.

Want something faster, more comfy, and nicer looking. Plus I've had it for a year now, time for some change. I've kept the Volvo longer than planned already.

Suggestions ? 2.5 k buys you, well erm, A 2.0 Volvo V40 from 1996... An E36 316i, A honda prelude from 1993, etc...

I am absolutely chuffed to bits I found this for just a grand, the only others I viewed that were worth buying were all 4000+ €. Not only that but a lot were automatics, and auto cars in the NL are cheaper than manual cars and I don't want an auto.
I don't see why getting a car that is all immaculate with an inflated price is better than buying a cheap one and fixing it up. Can save some serious money this way.

Expect to fork out another grand within a month or so for the clutch to be purchased and fitted then.
A slipping clutch is not a MOT testable item anyway so I don't think that saying "it passed it's test fine with it" carries any merit what so ever.

750 at the dealer... Not a whole grand and yes, that's what I'm doing nearly immediately.
A slipping clutch is in the MOT test here, it can fail for an excessively slipping clutch. It's quite strict too, the corolla ( at 430k km) failed MOT ( but still had a month MOT left) for a slipping clutch, my dad drove it to poland fine and replaced it there for 250 ish, came back and passed MOT fine.

At 1750€ for a fully working 150+bhp car is a bargain here, only things like old saabs and 87 mercs are available for that money. Even the t4 version of my 1996 volvo doesn't start lower than 3k...

Clutch is £250 to £300 fitted

The clutch is £100 and it takes about 4 to 5 hours to do...
