Put your heating on yet

wife put it on last night and boiler promptly went kaput. F1 error flashing away, which is low water pressure. Had to top it up using the filling loop, once done heating came back on. Success!

Back to my sick bed now! Lovely and warm.

Although i agree with you, depending on your system it doesn't actually cost a lot to keep a water tank hot 24/7.

During a 2 week period, we used about 225Kw/h, which equates to about £6.20 at 2.77p per Kw/h. This included hot water tank 24/7, an average of 2 showers a day, moderate cooking with gas and a gas fire on for a couple nights for a few hours.

That's gas though, I was thinking of electric immersion heaters like I've had in some properties. Cost about 5x that per unit.

never seen the point of dehumidifiers personally cost money to buy and operate. heating and ventilation/air circulation should be enough. unless you live in a small studio flat.

They can stop you having to open a window to get the humidity down, so less heating needed. The energy they consume mostly comes out as heat anyway so they're a bit like electric heaters IME.

Having done this for a few winters now I'm going to try more window opening + heating this time, as gas is cheaper than elec.

I don't have my heating on a timer, I just put it on when required. I got it on now as it was a bit chilly and will probably switch it off in an hour or so.

Combi so hot water is on tap when required.

Been using via the thermostat the last couple of weeks or so. Topped up the X100 and X200 via the header tank and pulled down into system so wanted to get it circulating ASAP.

Finally set my thermostat/timer yesterday.

18c in a morning for a few hours that covers mine and the missus wake up time
off during the day
20c in for a few hours from 6ish in an evening.

It might get thrown on a bit more than that but it's usually enough to cover us :)

I go 20C in the morning too warm it up then drop to 18 after an hour or so.
Might manually put it to 20 in the evening if its a bit chilly till about 8pm
