Putting a MAC SSD into another mac

I have a MAC BOOK AIR 2012 but its not working so I was going to buy another mac book air and put the existing SSD into it hoping that it will detect the new hardware and boot up OK.

as a PC/Windows person I thought i would ask here regarding the chances of success?

Pretty strong chance it'll work, though I'd put it in an external enclosure and try it first. You can boot from external drives by holding alt at startup.

Its a M.2/NV SSD so I need to get a reader, any recommendations ?

I've used a standard enclosure with a sata to m2 adapter before but I'm sure there are other options out there, not tried any others myself. Looks like OCUK sell some: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/search?sSearch=m2+enclosure
