I played the Demo of SCDA on the PC, and it seemed ok. But later on i saw my friend play it on the same level on the 360, and there was something different. It looked as if it had better draw distance, so for example, when you dive in the water, grab the guy underneath then pop your head out the hole, on the 360 he could see the camp place thing up ahead, whereas on the PC demo, it was all fogged away. Is this still the case with the full PC version ?

It wasn't foggy on mine it was more of a snow-storm! Having further draw distance than what is actually in game wouldn't have been realistic to the scene (i.e. it would have made the level far too easy).

The full games well worth a go!

Ive heard a lot about bugs with Splinter Cell DA, but.......ive owned games where people have gone ape over bugs, which i never noticed or encountered any of them, so im willing to give DA a chance :) I tried playing it on the 360 but i hated it. The frame rate was choppy, aiming was a chore, it just felt a bit crap. The demo on the PC was a lot better (same stuff, just found it easier to play), only the graphics thing i noticed was different.

So would you guys recommend it ? Anyone playing it on an 8800GT + Vista ? Is it problem free when all updated ?

I've been tempted to get a copy of the 360 as it is very cheap now. Quite enjoyed the first Splinter Cell but not really touched the following games. PC or 360 hmm...

Don't get this game please don't. I bought it and it was just dire. Not only are the entire game dynamics changed but it's just a huge, steaming, buggy turd. I honestly spent ages trying to get it going and while there is a patch and something you can add to the end of the shortcut ( -ll or something like that) it really wasn't worth it. This game won't improve either as UBIsoft have abandoned it completely so no more patches.

If you don't believe me have a look on the official game forum and see for yourself.
Just don't waste your money and buy this game.

PC user here, possibly the 360 version is less buggy as the game is really just a shoddy port.

I thought it was an OK game in isolation. I had two failed attempts at playing it, one straight after playing chaos theory where it was obvious the game was a massive step backwards in terms of sneaking. There were some nice set pieces but the emphasis on staying hidden had shifted in favour of a more kinetic and cinematic style of play. It had a dumbed down to appeal to a wider audience and slightly rushed and unfinished feel. Still, all the splinter cell games have been a bit like that as I always felt they were never as good as they should've been if ubisoft had only been a bit more patient or ambitious.

For a fiver there's worse ways to spend your time but you'll have to be prepared to tolerate a lot of crap to get to the good stuff.

Well i can get it for £7 brand new, so thats why im intrested :) I enjoyed the first 2 games, only played the demo on Chaos Theory (which seemed awesome), so i thought with that price it might be time to play DA. The reviews seem to like it too.

Doesnt Chaos Theory use some over the top protection method ? Im completely turned off from games if it installs crap like that.

PC Double Agent is no where near as bad as some people make out. I have both the 360 & PC versions and have played them a lot.

PC looks better as you do not have any screen tearing with vsync enabled plus the textures are higher res than the 360. Never found any major bugs either so not sure why it had such a bad rep. Its a game you have to read the manual on and take note of the training missions as the controls are complex in certain places usually when you have a small amount of time to do something in a mission. Loading times are also much quicker. Highly completeable from the retail DVD, the patches just make it more stable on certain gfx cards hardware.

360 version is easier to do in places as it uses the gamepad and the game is designed to be played that way so the PC control scheme of mouse + keyboard takes a little while to adjust to.

360 version really has long loading times and the lack of vsync means it has horrible screen tearing in places which hurts the atmosphere.

Ive ordered it now, so this post has gave me hope :) Its only 7 quid anyway so, no big loss if its sucky. Cheers everyone !

I had this game for 360 and its a brilliant game if your into your stealthy kind of games.

Multiplayer was fun and different too!

At the price its at now, its well worth having a look at :)

I got this game at release and loved it - there were about 10 serious bugs I kept getting, but I liked the game so much I worked around them. I'd work out what things made the game crash to desktop and try not to do them. The thing that annoyed me most was that any changes I made in the graphics menu didn't stick, had to do it all through the config file. Don't know how many of the bugs were fixed in patches later.

I'd say it's definitely worth £7 if you're into that sort of game.

If you have an 8800 then this game will not run properlly.

There are many "fixes" out there but i have not found any that actually work 100%.

The game refuses to run at a playable frame rate, due to the 8800 not being supported by the game, which warrants the game unplayable. Shame really as i really like the SC series. hopefully Conviction will work a bit better
