Q Acoustics 1010i Speaker set.

Am I spending my 450 wisely?

is anybody spending 450 pounds on anything spending it wisely these days? ;)

should have been looking a couple of months back, Quad Lite package was about the same price maybe a little more....and a lot superior.

you can buy the SVS 5.0 set for 460 atm but you will need to buy a subwoofer, but again loads better than the Q Acoustics you have posted.

I have the set before that, the Q Acoustic 1010 (non i) but with the 1030 front floorstanders. Unfortunately I can only compare it to a £300 HTIB setup, so I don't know how much value my opinion is.

But, in one word:

AWESOME!!!

I have the 1000ci centre which i think is the one in that set with two 1020 speakers and i personally think they're great.
People online recommended the wharfedale sets, but they look so ugly.

Easy get these :cool:;

QUAD L-ITE 5.0 SPEAKER SYSTEM (NO SUBWOOFER) (ROSEWOOD, REFURBISHED)

Then get a BK XLS200 for an excellent system. Total £490 and will blow that 1010i set to in to next tuesday!! Boom.........Seeeyyyyaaaaa!!! :D

Really?! I love it, but then it goes well with my living room.

At that price you could maybe paint them? It would sound much better than the QA set which look like cheap PC speakers!..............IMO ;)

they get good reviews as an under 500quid surround setup. but the Quad stuff would be much better.

I suppose the Quad stuff new would be 500ish, + a sub total 750ish?

i auditioned the Q Accoustic kit and although the sats were 'OK', the sub was awefull!

You will struggle to get the old quad kit now unless they are refurbs but they are well worth the cash if you can find some. I paid £550 for a set of silvers ones. The sub integrates very well with the sats and is amasing in movies!

depending on the room, there are other kits which would suit. The benefit of the quads and q accoustics is they are small in size and big in sound. I have a small lounge and didn't want it looking like a big speaker!

I also have the original 1010 kit and at the time it was the best set for buck and had lots of good reviews, both public and individual. All I can say is that it suits my needs and has plenty of volume for my room.
I also got these as they fitted into the room atheslically aswell so lkept the wife happy.

trust us both the Quad Lite and the SVS setup kills the QA into tomorrow.

with limited funds you're better off going 2nd hand to be honest, i got my £1700 Monitor Audio GR20 floorstanders for £600 ....best money i've ever spent :p

Was originally going to get QA gear then found the money and Quads. Simply awesome stuff, and Rosewood looks awesome in person whereas the stock photos are terrible.
As mentioned above te Sub is very well integrated into the system, and sells for £500+ in its own right.

My first step to upgrade the Quad set would be to get some nice Frontstanders for a richer 2 channel experience, but with the sub engaged they're really very good for thier size, and quite heavy too.

Go for the Quad's if you can find them. A bunch of their speakers were product of the year a few years ago, and a few reviews even said "Negatives: Nothing at this price".
I've got Quad 11L's as fronts, and for 2 channel eventually, and they're truly awesome. They handle bass nicely too (or would do if i had a proper amp and not a cheap AV amp for 2 channel music ;))

I dont have an AV receiver or surround speakers yet

I have a small to medium sized room, reading this thread, and when I can afford it, would the following be a good option?

QUAD L-ITE 5.0 SPEAKER SYSTEM with a BK XLS200 (or even the sub that comes with quad l-ite package) + denon 1909 (or onkyo606?) = good along with what i currently have?

currently have panasonic 42pz80, PS3 and sky hd

you're a couple of months too late for the quads, check out the SVS set they're also very good for HT.

but you'll need a sub on top of the £460 for the speakers.
