Finally upgraded from my e6400 to a Q6600 which I was very happy about, did some testing making sure it's all stable and it appears to be so. One thing I did notice was that the difference between Core #0 and Core #3 was 7c - 8c which seemed a little odd, 2-3c would have been okay but 7-8 ?

Any ideas? Uneven IHS or is this normal?

On testing though I got a nice increase in performance - tested Crysis for this and gained a decent amount of FPS with just the CPU change from the E6400 to the Q6600 :) Oddly though the minimum FPS on the quad is 5 -6 FPS lower than the E6400, but the average and max FPS is 5 - 6 higher... strange! Anyway, benchmark pics:

i get similar variation in temps and other people have too.

nothing to worry about but can be eliminted by lapping.

Thanks! that's alright then, as long as it's near enough normal :)

Any explanation for the drop of 5 FPS to the minimum frame rate in Crysis though? That one seemed a bit weird. Ran it a couple of times over in case it was just the benchmark but it produced very similar results.
