i have an 9 degree core temp difference on two of my four cores. i applied the AS5 as it says in the instructions. I have four prime95's running at a time. I'm using a Ninja Rev.B.

whats the highest safe temperature for the Q6600?

at load mine are (using CoreTemp):

c0 - 68
c1 - 77
c2 - 68
c3 - 77

Those look a little high to me, maybe mid 60's for load would be ideal, if that is stock cpu speed you may need to re-apply your AS5/heatsink. Use Core temp for your temperatures.
http://www.thecoolest.zerobrains.com/CoreTemp/ Most of us have a difference across the 4 temps.(Except AshM who will lap his heat spreader until they are all equal;)).
My temps are 57,57,52,54 under full load. Q6600 clocked to 3.4Ghz. Tuniq Tower cooler, Lian Li V1000+ case.

Yes i am using CoreTemp (i mislabled the name in the first post) those are under load (four instances of prime95). The room was closed off overnight and it was roasting in there this morning.

That doesnt look right to me...

For starters the safe temps are really up to about 72deg IMO...

Make sure U have the latest version of core temp & more importantly the latest version of orthos.

The latest version of orthos will allow you to run 4 small FFT tests at once and is designed with Quad Core in mind...

what are your idle temps?

My temps are 39, 39, 38, 38 Idle and 69, 69, 67, 67 under load... Mind you thats with 1.58vcore and 3.8ghz

Just to clarify when you applied the AS5 you used the thin line method, not the spread it all over one :) As shown here:

yes i used the guide above. idle temps are about 40's. i had my vcore at about 1.44V. oc'ing to 3gig @ 333x9.

Your idle temps seem a bit high also. What case do you have? Poor air flow and high room temps will not help. You could always re-apply your AS5 and re-seat your heatsink.

Well, thats high then...

Proper application of the thermal paste can make a massive difference... I have just reseated mine cos I wasnt happy with it and managed a 6deg drop in idle temps and 7deg drop in load temps.

I dont agree with that m8... some of these chips just run very hot...

My chip clocks well, but I need 1.58vcore to be stable at 3.8ghz... With that I get up to 69deg under load...

But with stock speeds & volts my chip is still doing 36deg idle and 57deg load which is hot & i'm running a PA120.2, Laing DDC2 & D-Tek Fuzion setup

i'm running my Q6600 G0 at 333x9 on stock volts, do you really need to run yours at 1.44?

i've already lapped both my cpu and the heatsink. i think i've done a good job on them you cant see light behind them on any side. you can at the very edges.

i think i am stuffed. i wont be able to raise the vcore to more than 1.4 by the looks of things without better cooling.
