Q6600 G0 3.4GHz Overclocking Voltage

i can only run mine at 3.115Ghz VID of 3.125 vcore @ 1.39 i tried to push it to 3.4Ghz with 1.47vcore but couldn't even start prime95
@ 3.115Ghz I when running prime95 get max temp of 55c with 1.39

any suggestions

i dont know what it is to be honest! automatic i would imagine. theres no setting in my bios for cpu VID, everything voltage-wise is set to auto other than memory and cpu voltages. and yeah, i dont think its because of pci 1.1. try uninstalling catalyst and the driver, reset, then use driver cleaner pro and then when you have done that, reset again and go into system32, delete everything with ati in its name, then go into the drivers folder and do the same, reset once again, then try installing say, the 8.6 hotfix drivers. i had to do all this when i installed DNA drivers and i couldnt get rid of them and had to go about it manually to get the proper ati driver installed. give it a go and see if it works!

coretemp will show the vid of your cpu

http://www.alcpu.com/CoreTemp/ the vid is the voltage that your particular chip is rated at for its stock speed, the lower vid chips tend to get higher clocks with less voltage increase

hey, thanks for that, my VID reports to be 1.2000v VID and my m8 sittin next to me just tryed it on his Q6600 and 1.325v
1.2000v is a really low/good one. mine is a 1.2750 which isnt to bad, 1.325 is the highest available. im running my quad at 3.4ghz with a vcore set in bios of 1.41250, gonna try and bring the voltage down a bit, its 8 hours+ stable in prime95 but the temps got a bit to high for my liking at 77'c

im the guy sat next to him, and we both at 3.4ghx 425x8 im at 1.4vcore in bios and im prime stable 8hours + but my temps are much lower than his, and we in same room and everything

ahh right, i think i get it. so that voltage is the stock voltage that the cpu needs for 2.4ghz? and the lower it is, it means u need less voltage for overclocking. so. since im at 3.4 @ 1.35v in the bios which is around 1.296v (idle) which ive just found drops to 1.28v stressed according to cpu-z. do you think i could get any more out of this chip? and how would i go about it? thanks

You should be able to get loads more out of it. I've a good feeling that only your cooling will hold you back with that chip.

Wanting to overclock my cpu to 3.4GHz but wondering whats the lowest voltage people have achieved this at, and what FSB/Multiplier setting.

Currently have it at 3.2Ghz (356x9) with the VCore at 1.25v and will try to see if i can go lower when back from work tonight.

Never knew the voltage made such a difference to the temps had it at 1.325 and under load it was at 62-64C but now its dropped down by 10C to 52-54C underload for 5hours on prime95.

1.485 for 3.6 ghz 24/7

I think the most recent chips are poor overclokers compared to the eearly G0

Has anyone bought one recently and if so what clocks are they getting ? I need to get one this weekend to stick in a new rig but if they arent clocking well then
