i've decided it is worth it. a 1ghz overclock just sounds better than 800mhz.

i'm getting max load temps of 70c with this el cheapo cooler

only thing i could find locally that was quad capable.

70C sounds fine. It's only ever going to get that high when priming or playing on Crysis for hours and hours

Yup, my Q6600 1.325v VID needs 1.4975V vCore for 3.5GHz but temps only peak at 66C over a 24hr period which isn't too bad considering. 3.6GHz is a no go for me at any voltage or multiplier.

Yeah, that's pretty much what I used to get with my 1.325vid Q6600, although I could get windows to boot at 4ghz for brief Pi runs.
