Core Speed 1632.3
Multipler x 6.0
Bus Speed 272.0
Rated 1088.0

I'm running in a Abit IP35.

Any ideas what I need to set in the bios to get this working properly?

It's speedstep by the looks, it reduces your multiplier, when you don't need it, to reduce power consumption.

you don't need to disable speedstep, it is very responsive

overclock it using prime 95 to test stability and use core temp to monitor temps, not over 70 at full load

i was guna say id be worrying if my core2 was at 70*c :o

relax, should handle well above 70*C, heck even above 100*C proberbly wouldn't be too dangerous, intel design there processor with very high thermal tolerances i believe

Not to hijack the thread, but if I'm running at 3.5ghz, and I put speedstep ON... will it clock the CPU down say in windows or whatever, BUT then say I start a game or benchmark, whack it upto full throttle?

Cheers

saves a bit of power but in some cases with overclocking people have found it locks up their machine when jumping between speeds - its something you'd have to test for.

This question gets asked at least 23 times each week.

Do people really need their CPU running at full speed when they have gone for a cup of tea.

Put very well

Again down to personal preference. I chose to turn it off but as already mentioned its YOUR choice but as to make you aware when the cpu is in use it will swith back to full speed .
