Mmmm, Speedstep ? Or incorrect BIOS setup.
go into your bios and turn off c1e and e1st then use cpuz to get a corespeed reading
So 70 is a safe temp for core2's? surly thats abit hot

it is hot, i dont let it go above 60, the spec says something like 100
and safe is very subjective

i was guna say id be worrying if my core2 was at 70*c
you don't need to disable speedstep, it is very responsive
overclock it using prime 95 to test stability and use core temp to monitor temps, not over 70 at full load

Do people really need their CPU running at full speed when they have gone for a cup of tea.
