Well am running a Q6600 G0 Stepping @ 3.6ghz, Lapped the CPU and My New Ultra 120 and am well impressed... 2 hours into a Prime95 and Temps at highest have been 54/54/48/48... will give it another couple of hours and then see if the CPU can get any faster :)

Assumming my temps are ok... I am right in thinking I can keep raising the Vcore? (not to stupid levels obviously but like 1.5/1.6v??)

Nothing stupid about 1.5v, although mine's on water. Those are good temps in my opinion, but I've only had my Q6600 running for a day.

Well got a bit impatient :) is now @ 3.709 and 30 mins into a Prime95, vcore is up to 1.475 and temps running @ 57/57/52/52. Hopefully will drop a little once the termal paste has had a chance to bed in a bit... although not sure how much difference it makes on a lapped setup

Hope to get 3.8 out of it would be extremely happy with that on air... give it another couple of hours just to make sure its stabble @ 3.7 and then will go for some more :)

Nice clock, temps@ 57/57/52/52 and Vcore @1.475. impressive on air look forward to your update

Yip if you can get the 3.8Ghz and your temps hover around 65c without pushing the Vcore from its present position;)

Never lapped anything so don't know for sure, but shouldn't the temp difference between cores be negligible after lapping? Seems like 5-6 degrees is a bit much to me.

I am guessing that its the weight of the heatsink and the 2 monster deltas on it! Is as tight as i dare go have a 2p in there to get it extra tight... had to drop my fan speeds to 75% now as the g/f is trying to sleep and she is complaining she can hear the machine upstairs (where is her scientific endevour!)

Had a play around at 3.820 and Prime95 failed within 30 seconds at 1.525 so drop'd it down for this current test... am guessing maybe have reached the limit of the CPU?

I dont think the limiting factor is the CPU. The limiting factor is the chip is on air cooling. If that chip was under water the Vcore increase would be possible.

At 3.829 @ 1.525 fail on prime would indicate a Vcore bump is required. You have a gem of a chip.

hmm well even @ 1.525 when I had my fans @ full (damm that women) I was still only @ 60c max, as it is am now running around 63c so dont feel like i can risk bumping it more tonight just want to run a full 8 hours now.. maybe see what i can get at 1.55 tommorrow when I can max them out again...

now I just need to find some ear plugs :)

As you say run it over night and submit in the q6600 O/C thread. Then launch again and see what you are able to achieve.

An impressive o/C and temps

Nice one

Will do... nice to get an air cooled Q6600 up with all you custom water guys.. fingers crossed it makes the 8 hours now :)

Now i just have to find something to do

no fraid i dont, i was going to take before and after pictures of my lapping earlier but the camera ran out of batteries and well I wanted to get going... am very impressed with it have set two other Q6600 up and definatley has a little edge over them... although neither were taken to quite this extreme
