I have a G0 Q6600 on a P35 DS3P with 2Gb Ballistix 8500. Running Vista 64bit (fully legit i'd add!)

The ram is running at stock with 2.2v as is the CPU @ 1.325v.

Under prime the whole system locks up before completing the first step.

What could be the problem?

Temps at idle are around 35 using core temp. Using games and 3dmark etc temps head up to about 55. With Prime95 the temps barely move to 40 before it locks. According to the CPU load gadget it does indicate that it is taking on the iterations before it locks.

Thought the stock V core for the GO Q6600 was something like 1.235V

Try Mem 1-1

mem at 1.9v (+.1v)

north bridge at 1.9v (+.1v)

V core at 1.3v

clock at 8X 400 =3200

mem @ 4-4-4-12

Just try the above settings and see how they go, have set up 3 DS3R's on those setting, with Go Q6600's and they all worked prime stable, with Balistix 5300 1gb x 4

The stock v-core (according to CPU-Z) is 1.325 for my chip.

My Ram's stock voltage requirements are 2.2v and timings are 5-5-5-15 according to Crucial.

I've given the northbridge an additional 0.1v already.

Isn't the point that this chip should run at stcok without issue? Let alone 3.2GHz?

This is a new CPU from OCUK btw.

Well this looks promising (well kind of! LOL).

I'm writing this whilst it is performing the small test. Are you thinking my RAM is more likely to be to blame?

Ha, fraid not.

It seemed fine on the small FFT's. It was striding through that no problems.

I'm stuck. Really wanted to clock all this gear but don't know what to do.....

It's PC-8500. I don't know lol. That means it's running at 1066Mhz. That sounds stock to me?

Presumably it's actually running at 266MHz??

Thanks for your help so far guys, i'm gonna resume tomoro nite, starting with the CMOS. I can barely keep my eyes opn! Had a good NYE ;o)

Cheers

I'd just like to say that there is probably nothing wrong with your setup. Older versions of Prime95 cause the problem you describe on some newer systems (this includes the last official release on their site main page, and Orthos etc). You should find that running the newer Prime95 beta will cause no such issue when running the blend test, plus allows you to use multiple cores more easily.

I'd agree with this but i've got the very latest Prime95 (v255a). Plus the version on that link doesn't download.

I'm hoping it is a problem with Prime95 to be honest because i can't see what else is wrong when the CPU seems to do so well when just using small FTTs.
