Q6600 or e8400?

Think ill go with the q6600 anyway, not going to clock it to much. Where is a webpage that tells me the facts about Ram? rather than asking loads of questions.

I would like the Q6600 because I do a bit of video editing. So most people are saying that the temps are alright but would my sythe mini ninja cope with it?

Does your editing app support 2 or 4 cores? Is the disc sub system up to feeding data to and from the program? (last time I tried an older version of pinnacle for editing/recoding it could not max out the 1.86 core 2 in the PC when wrting camera footage to mpeg2)

In that case get the quad. Will walk it for video editing.

It won't walk it at all. SSE4 more than makes up for the 2 core deficit (making the E8400 around 20% faster) though only in software that supports it, which I think most do now. Where SSE4 is not supported the Q6600 is much quicker although still not twice as fast (around 33%).

If it's a mini ninja going on it I'd assume that it's going in a HTPC and would then go for the E8400.

Very tough choice though with these prices. It really boils down to what software the OP is using.
