hmm those temps are a bit high for full load on stock tbh...

the max cpu temp according to intel is around 70-71C so u dont really wanna hit that...

for reference i have a Q6600 G0, and i am at 378x9 stable (3.4ghz) and my full load temps with prime95 are 60C, idle i am at 39C. maybe reseat the heatsink or use some arctic silver if u havent done so already.

what voltage are u pumping thru that cpu btw

I have my Q6600 overclocked to 3GHz at stock volts! (1.23V) My temps are 30oC idle and 40-42oC under load, maybe pushing toward 48oC if all cores loaded! Remember if you allow the mobo to automatically adjust timings, remember higher VID=Temp, dont go over 1.5V for that CPU though! What mobo have you got? I am running at 333x9 at stock.

Yes! leave the voltage at default, make sure your RAM also is at the correct Voltage! Mine runs at 2.1V so it is to +0.3V (1.8 + 0.3 = 2.1V) I have the DS4 and it will set the voltage high automatically for an overclock therefore more heat, leave all other voltages at default test with prime95, a 3Hz oc should be easy! I have a Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme with a 120mm Noctua fan.

I cant see the image my work proxy server blocks it! For a 3 gig overclock on a Q6600 G0 stepping should easilly manage at stock! For RAM here are the numbers explained!
Specifications for timings are usualy stated such as 5-5-5-15/2T which relate to the values of the CAS/tRCD/tRP/tRAS/CMD. Leave CMD at auto. Memory timings are governed by an EEPROM on the RAM PCB containing SPD (serial presence detect information) about your RAM, for the BIOS, I normally set the timings manually. I would also set the cpu to default voltage, set the FSB to 333MHz (QFSB 1333MHz) the RAM ratio will be 1.2 12/10 or 6/5 on some mobo RAM ratios ( so 333x1.2=400x2=800MHz DDR as it uses the rising and falling edge of the clock) 1st to see if it is prime95 stable on all for cores for about a day! This will check your RAM also. Goodluck.

go into bios..

set FSB at 334
increase voltage of Vcore by 1 unit, of the smallest increment. (should manage on default) (turn off auto voltage)

optionally deactivate C1E and E1ST (prevents switching of multipliers on the fly)

your temps should not change by much at 3.06 GHZ. by that i mean 1-2degrees

I just overclocked strate to 333 so it was running at 3.0Ghz and i had core temp running with prime95 on all 4 cores and core temp gived a error when the temp got to 65c and crashed core temp so i stoped prime and put the cpu back to 2.4...i think i need a better cooler? or could it be becouse i left the voltage on auto? and im scared to go for 3.0Ghz with out going to 3.6 lol

This is my CPU cooler

i am unfamiliar with that cooler but sounds to me it cant cope. Try going for something like the Tuniq Tower 120. its big so make sure it will fit in your case but it does a stellar job. with it i think u should get 3.0ghz stable easy.
