Evening all,

I just fitted my new Q6600 into my machine and want to try and maximise the performance on with (hopefully giving a boost in BF3 over my E7300). I've stuck a 3Ghz OC on it just now and all seems fine but I just want to check on the voltages and temps.

So while running IBT:

CPU-Z Info - CPU voltage is currently set to Auto in the BIOS and the value on the image is the highest I've seen.

If you can let me know where I can improve things I'd appreciate it!
The motherboard I am using is the Asus P5Q Pro and the CPU is running under a Noctua cooler.

Just got one of these myself...just testing now.

Straight from installing the off stuck volts @ 1.4. FSB @ 400 and seems to be running sweet as a nut.

Set the voltage manually, you'll get it lower than auto will which will lower temps.

Mine's clocked at 3.4GHz (378 x 9.0x) with around 1.27v.

I used to run my Q6600 @ 3.6Ghz but when playing Bad Company 2 experienced several crashes, which was strange as the system was rock solid when benchmarking.

For gaming I found reducing the multiplier to x8 ran games sweetly with no problems at all, so I had 2 overclocked BIOS profiles saved, one for gaming & the other for general use.

Voltage & tempwise I manually set Vcore to 1.51v in BIOS (1.45v on Cpuz) & used to idle at around 45c - 47c rising to 68c - 70c at full load.

Best chip I ever owned!

Seems good at 3.6, bumped the volts up a bit and it's spot on. Temps are a little higher as I ran furmark as well to get the case temps up to see what the absolute max would be when gaming. It's staying at around 74c now that I've closed furmark. With a decent cooler I'm sure I could improve that a lot.

Cheers for the update there. Might try and squeeze some more out of mine :D
Thinking I might have to re-apply the thermal paste looking at my un-even temps.

Will stick an update on later. Also considering some new case fans as mine are old!

I'm seriously considering ordering the Antec Kúhler H2O 620, it's on this week only for £40, seems a bargain and it seems to work fairly well according to reviews.

I've dropped the vcore a notch since posting and tems have dropped to about 71c now :)

Right, had a play around and got this:

I tried to get the clock higher but with manual volts on the CPU I couldn't get it to boot into Windows. Happy with this though, temps etc are lower now :)

My temps are at 60 - 79 degrees!

Just waiting to sort out my watercooling loop which should help with the temp.

I am kicking myself I should have gone quad so much sooner...can't imagine what i5/i7 is like!
