Q6600 Owners

How long do you leave prime95 running, and which test would you select?

I selected blend and its done 2 tests and the max temp was 73deg on one core this is @3.0ghz

Yeah but you're cheating! Custom phase - meh :p :D

I personally use Small FFTs, and it gets mighty toasty, although it does state that Large FFT's create max heat.

my G0 SLACR used to do 3Ghz on stock volts - I however used to run it @ 3.2Ghz with 1.38v (I think!) - These G0 Q6600's are excellent overclockers. The lower the VID reported in coretemp the better

i've been running my Q6600 for the last 2.5 yrs with below settings, never been able to get it much higher so gave up trying. Nice low Voltage though.

First of, Hi all. Just got validated.

I replaced my e8400 Last Tuesday for a Q6600 (Bad company2). Been a blast OC'in the chip. Had the e8400 for a couple of years or so so havent had anything new to play with in ages, though had the 8400 at 4GHz.

This q6600 actually makes it to windows at 4GHz, but BSOD's shortly after :/ Maybe some more tweaking will get it stable.

The highest clock I have it stable at is 3.7 though. Freaking love playing with this thing, amazing chip.

I overclocked my Q6600 for the first time two days ago. It was my first time overclocking too. I've got it stable at 3.2GHz.

I have had min for approx 12 months and I could not be happier. I have not a lot of experiance when it come to clocking so got some hint and tips of this site. Well It could not have been easier. I just turned the fsb up to 333 and hay presto, all the setting are left on Auto in bios but did lock the pcie settings.

never get the pics to work ;(

P965 board? FSB looks suspiciously dead on where all my 965 based boards crapped out with Q6600s :D

if thats to me...

i had this ram in a prev gigabyte bored and the ram went a lot higher but changed bored for the Q6600 and was dissapointed. This is a P35-DS3R.

I cant seem to get above 3.0 ghz without crashing, it loads to win logon but as soon as password is entered it reboots :(

It's pretty stable at 3.0 though.

Maybe it's the 965 chipset that's not good for the quads which I have read.

I suppose it's a lot better than my E6300 though!

Slipperz :)

My Q6600 VID is 1.2250V. I assume from above that this is decent. Does it give me more overclocking headroom ? Have been running it at 3 GHz since day 1.

FYI, incase anyones interested, my 680i board got my Q6600 running at 3.19GHz. I had it at 3.4 however, it was not stable and occasionally bsod'd. 3.19 seemed to be the most stable for me over a 14 month period.
