I've tried overclocking my Q6600 but the temps seem to go way higher than everyone else's. I've got a decent cooler, so anyone know what the problem might be?

What temps are you getting at what speed and voltage, and which cooler and thermal paste are you using?

What are your full load temps and what software are ypu using to check.
Are you at stock or overclocked.

Mine goes upto 73deg on a hot day, when all cores are 100% load (which never happans unless i run prime95). Yours going higher then that?

blimey my q6600 idles at 29 degrees and goes up to 45 max

edit: those are ASUS probe temps (CPU heatsink/spreader temps) core temp says 55 max, 36 idle
using a zalman flower heatsink and arctic silver

I run my q6600 from 3 - 3.3 gig and even at the 3.3 the idle temps stay around no higher than the high 30's (about 2 cores) and that includes shut windows, heating on etc. The other day one of my cores dropped to 14C. Can't fathom what your problem might be dude, does it perform ok regardless of temp?

i think you need to reseat your cooler and maybe check to see if its completely flat, i had to lap my TRUE as that was very bad and didnt make proper contact with the cpu.

Well I had massive problems with my Q660 overheating at 1st, went upto the 80s on full load only on 2.4 stock settings with stock cooler
If it does seem well seated, try and reseat it anyway, it worked for me, and dropped my temps quite considerabley

Did it go wrong?

Au contraire mon ami... mange tout mange tout..

Was a pain in the ass as I had to remove the PSU to get at the fiddly thing. It now idles at about 30degrees and as I type this I'm running prime 95 at 345 FSB x 9, under prime95 full load and it's 56 on the hottest core.

Thanks for your help guys... very pleased.

Thats exactly what happened to me topbanana!
I knew straight away after i reseated myne, when the temps went to 35 max on stock, now they go to about 55 full load at 3.3ghz
If I had done it properly the 1st time, I wouldnt of had the same trouble!

this is to hot right?

i get 62c at 3ghz with my q6600 g0 stepping

corev 1.47.....
