hi guys i just got a new mobo
asus p5n72-t to replace my asus p5n32 sli mobo that blew

since i got this mobo i decided to overclock it

ok
hears my specs
asus p5n72-t nforce 780i mobo
core 2 quad Q6600 2.4ghz
OCZ DDR2 1066 Sli memory 2 gig
XFX 8800 GTX 768mb
and a cheap 800w modjular Powersupply

i want to over clock it to about 3.2 but anything with in that range would be accpeable

i would like to know the best voltages, fsb, memory timings to get this processer at that speed and be stable and not 2 hot

p.s IM Using the Stock headsink but looking for a other (not watercooling) (never trusted them)) if anyone knows a good Cheap one (less than 40 quid i would like a link ) p

Thanks for taking your time to read this post and i hope you guys can help me :p

I would wait with the overclocking until you've done the heatsink upgrade tbh, it is possible to do some light overclocking on a Q6600 with the Intel heatsink but unless you really know what you're doing, I wouldn't advise it.

For <£40 I would suggest something like:

Titan Fenrir

8x400 at 1.4 volts nb at 1.4 memory at rated speed and timings u might need to up the ppl for 9x400 i use just over 1.5v and nb at 1.45 same memory speed and timings and i would get the v10 the titan with 2x fans will be very good

thanks for showing me that heatsink but im looking for something a BIT BIGGER like the coolmaster X10

You don't need a bigger heat sink than the fenrir mate, they are big enough as it is, i had to remove my top fan on the side panel to fit my fenrir in and i have a cm 690 dominator case.

My 6600 runs idle at 23-25 deg across the cores, 56 max under full load in prime.
