That's some positive Chaos-Theory for you . . . the rustling of the fast DDR2, OCZ Reaper 1150MHz sitting in a draw @ Phil3's house somehow ended up with your DDR2-666 turning into DDR2-800 :eek:

Not always the case. I currently have 4 x 1GB OCZ platinum PC6300. Its running stock speed but my system (Q6600) is fully stable at 400 x 9.

425 x 9 boots but fails prime after a minute or so. Memtest works fine when at 425 * 9 so thats down the the CPU/CPU volts

I bought some of this - Corsair Dominator 4GB (2x2GB) DDR2 XMS2 PC2-8500C5 TwinX Dual Channel (TWIN2X4096-8500C5D) [TWIN2X4096-8500C5D]

with the airflow kit. I tested this with memtest and was fine at 400 x 9. Booted and crashed with blue screen after a few mins. Couldnt be bothered messing around so sold it on ebay, buyer said it works perfectly :confused:

Must be the memory & motherboard combo (gigabyte P45 DS3P)

so no... you dont NEED fast ram to overclock

Right chuffed to bits, fitted my Megahalems and im running 3.6Ghz prime stable so far :D

vcore is set to 1.5v in the bios but is showing 1.304 on cpu-z, I assume you go by what cpuz says due to the 'vdroop'?

load temperatures are reasonably high as well, I think i may need a beefier fan (or even two) for the cooler as its only 1000rpm
 
I found a 120mm antec fan with speed controller, stuck that on and it dropped it to more like 55c on prime load at 3.6ghz.. think in retrospect ill order some faster 120mm's to go on each side.
