Hey guys i just wanted to ask about this a little as board seems to have a high vdrop.

in the bios, its currently set and 1.45 for the vcorecpu-z reads the voltage at 1.392.

is that what i should expect from this?

thanks :)

That's not too bad for a quad-core.

There should be a Loadline Calibration option if you want to use it.

can you explain what that does? im none to sure ^^;

edit

PS i got my memory stable at 4-5-5-7 , not tried taking it lower, but it was stable for 2 hours in memtest
thats a DRAM of 472.5

EDIT 2:

it was 1.475 in bios, not 1.45

edit 3: memtest was stable at 4-5-5-7 , but those timings make the cpu crash in memtest after about 5 minutes, pulled it up to 4-5-5-9 for testing.

Loadline Calibration levels out the vcore so that what you set in the BIOS is about the same as you get in Windows.

Vdrop is specced by Intel and is designed to be there.

Personally I wouldn't enable Loadline Calibration unless I needed to, but plenty of people enable it all the time.

my current cpu-z readings
cpu
actual voltage under load - 1.408
actual voltage idle - 1.456
core speed 3404.1
multi x9.0
bus 378.0
rated fsb 1512.0

memory
dram freq - 472.5
fsb: dram - 4:6
CL - 4.0
tRCD - 5
tRP - 5
tRAS - 7

im really surprised by the clocks i managed to achieve on the memory timings!(4-5-4-5) i was just fooling about, seeing how low they would go before it wouldnt boot, then i figured, hey why not memtest, and they were stable. but prime 95 crashed after 15 minutes. so i played around and it stabled out at the ones above. im very happy with this :)

although i think i need to re-seat my tuniq tower, as the temp sit at 83-83-74-74 on the cores and my friends are around the low 70's and mid 60's when his fan is only half power... his does have a vid of 1.282 whilst mine is 1.312. and his volts are lower because of this.

my idle temps are 48-46-40-40 and these seem quite high too, especially with that 2000rpm fan on the tuniq tower.
