Im about to start my new gaming rig build and was set on the q6600 but after a bit of looking around the e8500 seems to be a very good choice.
I know they are both VERY good CPUs and cant go wrong with either but i just wanted to hear peoples views on the two.

Let battle commence...

There have been enough threads on dual cores VS. quad cores. Do a search.

At the end of the day it comes down to what you use your PC for. If it's exclusively gaming and internet browsing, or other more mainstream tasks, get a dual core and clock it high. If you specifically do encoding, or want more of a spread of performance all over, get a quad core.
