a lot of people on water have around 1.6v for benching.

Tbh its more about the temps then straight voltage, unless you do something stupid.

If a Q6600 wont post on air >3.5 even if the temps are low (no matter the voltage), does that mean it wont do >3.5 with water?

It could be a number of things stopping it from posting. What mobo do you have and what ram and settings are you using. Watercooling isn't a magical answer to overclocking.

Well it does post, but not much else: just freezes.

giga p35 dq6 mobo
the 1066 ram is under control

the chip will do 7x480 1920 fsb, so the mobo looks good, though I dont run at this speed as have to run ram at 960 then & slower than 3.4 1066 ram
