Hey, ive been looking around at prices. On another well known computer site they sell the Q6600 but they dont say if its GO or B3 nor do they sell two versions like OCUK. I looked down the listed spec and it says 1.1v, this seems pritty low. I wondered if this is a GO stepping chip?

I cant find any other shops which are selling GO on pre order or even menchening them. Seems strange, unless they are just going to swap them over when they run out of stock and not say anything. But will they also randomly increase the price like ocuk did then?

I don't think there are any other online retailers taking pre orders yet...i know of only one other who is going to split Q6600 stock and not charge extra for the G0...but we all have a little wait before they do arrive.

Can't comment if there are more. Thing is, in the normal course of events, a step change is no big thing and 99% of chip suppliers wouldn't distinguish old from new stock. Its on the same SKU, same product. Should be the same price.

If the prices stay the same then i cant see how ocuk will sell considering their Go chips are more expensive then the normal... which is more expensive then other places anyway lol.

Aww well. Thanks i found out what i wanted to know. Didn't the E6850s come out weeks earlyer in other places though? i wondered if the Go versions might be doing the same and i could get one early :)

All E6850 are G0 :)

This might do it!

"Obviously" the jumpsuit will be needed for warmth when using the PC in an open cargo bay in a plane doing 300mph at 20,000 feet in order to get a good fast flow of cold air :)

I was thinking of the fan that Jumpsuit Man is standing in, though.

Don't think having a snow making machine inside your PC is going to do it a lot of good :p .

The 1.1V is the voltage used with the Speedstepping.

other places will be doing the GO stepping, hopefully intel will halt production on 1033fsb version cos there are too many which is confusing for the average person.

about £12 more for G0 version, which would take about 1yr of normal use to get the money back in saved electric bills.

Why is the G0 so special its only 10w less than normal. Not as if its going to make a huge difference in overclocking??

it runs a few degrees cooler. also when overclocked to 3.6ghz it uses 30w less power which is rather a lot and quite a lot cooler.

Im sure the £18 extra is just an excuse to make money. It cant really cost that much more to make. And if it does then they still make big profits anyway as they sell like crazy :P

I think ill attach a parachoote to my pc and jump out of a plane and try and overclock it using the speed of me calling at 210mph as cooling :P

ooo i just found out this is a Go stepping chip!!!

Therefore they must run 1.1v standard without any energy saving :)

Its on pre order just like OCUK so i gues they just run out of their orginal stock quicker then OCUK did.

Spoke to a cousin in NYC via email, he has a VID of 1.265v on his G0 Q6600, could get him to get me one but by the time it gets here i might be able to get one locally.

I just made a similar decision m8. Decided to go the import route - so now you can guarentee G0's will be here in the UK this week :(
