Ventured into the loft last weekend to get the Christmas decks down, while up there I had a sort out of the boxes we’ve not done owt with since moving in 7 years ago.

Found my old Q6600 rig, totally forgot about it.

So, question is. Can this be salvaged for anything even to give away to a youngster looking for first venture into PC world.

Or should I just consign it to the recycling centre?

I've given old computers to my boys when they were younger (13/14) to take apart and put back together then install the OS etc. They loved it as they were keen to learn.

Depending on the rest of the specs it could easily be put to use as a homework/minecraft/roblox machine, again depending on the age of the youngster involved.

It's a perfectly capable chip still, in fact I think it's fair to say the Q6600 is a legendary chip. I only ditched mine about a year and a half ago, well gave it away to a friend, as they don't have any cash value now.

With a reasonable amount of ram, it's a solid platform as a media /mine craft type thing.
