Q8300

lol it finished fine and maxed on one core at 54 degs :D doing a windows 7 rating to see if it goes up from the 7.2 stock score, doubt it but we will see.

so do you think the not like 450x7.5 might be down to i also set it to 1066 ram?
should stop being inpatient and do 1 thing at a time :( but 25mins between each change is too much hehe

I know what you mean, but this stuff does take some time to get right.

The reason 450x7.5 not working could be down to the higher RAM speed, but it could be down to the board not being able to run such a high FSb stably or the CPU hitting an FSB wall.

I suggest going back to your highest stable overclock so far (3GHz I believe), use the 800Mhz RAM, and increase the FSB 5-10MHz at a time - and running OCCT after each change. To save some time - only run OCCT for 10 minutes (just make sure you test the heck out of the overclock when you think you are finished).

well its been running OCCT for 15mins at 425x7.5 (3.18GHz) without issues so getting a bit closer to the 3.5GHz :D

trying it at 435x7.5 (3.26GHz) as 450x7.5 caused a 'windows cannot load, insert disc and run repair...' error. probably down to vcore but will see how this goes.

not sure, running OCCT on 440x7.5 vcore +0.075 and see how that goes. its not a temp thing as im not even hitting 60 deg yet, so maybe mobo, cpu or psu is at its limit, or i need to be braver with vcore

What does the Vcore say in OCCT then?

I ask, because I think the voltage shown in the BIOS is higher than the actual voltage. If so, then you can afford to put more voltage in.

because i have set it back down to +0.075 its showing 1.31, this looks pretty good so far, done 6mins with no errors at 3.30GHz :D

nope that just errored too :( will up the vcore to +0.125 again and see what it says.

Shweet :)

With that voltage you can afford to use something like +0.15 V and still be perfectly safe

As for getting up to 450FSB, that may start being a motherboard limit. You may need to increase the Northbridge (FSB) voltage to keep it stable, though definitely just try the higher Vcore first.
