Q9550 idle temps issue (core 0)

I lapped my CPU last night

Core 0 has always been slightly hotter than the other 3 but is this a little ridiculous now?

41/29/27/29

3.6ghz idle temps under water, cores 1, 2 and 3 all equal and low

Core 0 is over ten degrees hotter

Anyone else have a similar issue?

Does the temp ever go down below 41? and how does it behave under load. It could be a stuck temperature sensor, or it could just be that youve done a shoddy job of lapping, but I suspect you would have noticed something that would cause that sort of difference :S.

lol im not a lapping newbie so dont think it is that... plus the issue has always been around but is more noticable now as other 3 cores are running cooler after lapping

Temp does not drop below 41 but under load does go up to 50 and the other three cores 45-47

I have a 9650 that idles at 35, 35, 35, 37 Core 4 never goes lwr than 37. So I can only think that it has a stuck sensor. At load they are all around 54-55 so no issues.
Even from a cold soak over night when the other cores warm from 20 the fourth core will read 37.

Intel state that the temp sensors are only for thermal protection and not for thermal monitoring.

i have core 0 10C higher, don't worry about it.
I have lapped it and used various heatsinks, the only time i would worry about it, was if it was causing early throttling of the chip but if ur under water temps wont be getting that high.

My overclocked Q9550 never drops below 42 34 26 39 but loads to 66 66 60 60 all on air (Zalman 9500AT).

I have tried new HSF's which dropped the low and high temps and tried several methods of thermal paste and 3 different types. I am now using ZM-STG1 as it performs well and is easy to apply.

I think you only need to worry about high temps (Intel Burn In Test will get it up to temp). Real Temp says core 3 has zero movement but it does rise when under load.

I have an e7200 with both the sensors stuck.

Stock cooler @ Stock - 31/31 idle 50/50 Load
Stock cooler @ 3.8Ghz - 31/31 idle 71/71 Load
Freezer 7 Pro @ Stock - 31/31 idle 42/43 Load
Freezer 7 Pro @ 3.8Ghz - 31/31 idle 61/62 Load
TRUE + Sflex 1600 @ Stock - 31/31 idle 35/36 Load
TRUE + Sflex 1600 @ 3.8GHz - 31/31 idle 55/55 Load

If it helps, Intel officially said that any temperature readings below 50 degrees are pretty much useless. I wouldn't fret about it, and even if it is at 41 degrees, it should be performing fine! My core 0 is always on average 6 degrees higher than the rest.

on my Q9550 the cores 0 and 3 are always the same and 1 and 2 are always the same, and the difference is about 5 degrees (cores 0 and 3 being the lower (IIRC)).
