hi guys I'm wanting to buy a new gpu maybe a 6950, what I want to no is will my cpu - mobo - ram bottleneck the card at all?
my setup:
q9550 @3.8ghz
4gb of corsair dominator 1066 cl5
p5q deluxe

thanks

Q9550 is still good!

Only upgraded from mine as I got the upgrade itch :p

Same here pretty much (Q9650) only changed because the upgrade didn't cost me much as those chips still sell for quite a bit. I'd suggest trying to upgrade to 8GB RAM if you can though as some games are starting to see a benefit from 8GB.

Q9550 still runs very sweet , especially with your o/c , the 6950 would compliment it quite nicely , i agree with Redmint though , a wee ram upgrade to 8gb along with the new gfx card would be a great addition , especially with RAM not costing the earth anymore.

I have a ddr2 board though, i currently have 4gb of corsair dominator 1066 dual channel kit and i cannot find any of it online and the prices for other ddr2 ram is shocking compared to the cheap ddr3, so im completely stuck on what to do, can i mix similar ram with the same voltage and timings :-(

Not sure if I can talk prices outside of the Member's Market without getting in trouble mate sorry. I sold a 4GB OCZ Platinum 1066 kit & picked up 8GB of the same.

I've the same rig as you with a gtx570 card(similar to a 6950) and the q9550 doesn't bottle neck it...well not that I've noticed.
