Can anyone give me some advice on how i can tweak my settings so the cpu runs stable on intel burn
Settings are as follow
FSB 460
DRAM 920MHZ
AI CLOCK AUTO
AI TRANS BOOSTER AUTO
CPU VOLT 1.443V
CPU PLL VOLT 1.58V
N/B 1.51V
FSB TERM 1.60V
S/B 1.20V
S/B 1.5V AUTO

These are the setting ive got so far so it runs stable in game. but if i can use the on bench test then i cant say ive got it at 4.1.
mother board is the rampage formula ddr2 x48

Your voltages are far over what most people would consider sane, and likely much higher than are needed.

What were your stable settings at 4ghz, preferably your stable settings on minimum voltages at 4ghz? What load temperatures?

I've just got hold of a Q9650 & I was in the same position as you for a few days. To get the chip stable & i had to mess with GTL references. I put them all in sync & now I'm stable at 4.2GHZ under prime 8hrs/small ffts, prime blend 8hrs & as many runs of IBT you can throw at it :)

I put all GTL references to 0.67 instead of auto. Without these set I can't even boot to windows @ 4GHZ

I just wrote this all out & it somehow disappeared on me  So here it is again.

Here are my BIOS settings for 4.2GHZ stable. Bear in mind I'm on an Asus P5Q Premium which is a P45 chipset as opposed to your X48 so things might be slightly different. Also I have only had the chip since Wednesday & I'm still tweaking it myself. I'm probably going to stay at 4.2GHZ but just try & lower my voltages more.

FSB 467
PCIE 101
DDR2 1122 5-5-5-15

VCORE 1.35
CPU GTL 0/2 0.675
CPU GTL 1/3 0.675
CPU PLL 1.56
FSB TERM 1.36
DRAM V 2.2
NB V 1.36
NB GTL 0.675

LLC ENABLED
CPU SPREAD DISABLED
PCIE SPREAD DISABLED

C1E DISABLED
SPEEDSTEP DISABLED

If I haven't written a value down its because its on auto

Hope that helps you.

There is a separate value for both groups of cores.

A quad core chip is basically two dual cores stuck together & the board gives you control over both of these.

Just noticed in your sig that you have the same ram as me too. You should be able to run it faster than the speeds you listed in your first post :)
