Hi Guys,

I've sold my Microserver which used to be used as my central store as I couldn't be bothered tinkering with it anymore. Im looking to replace it with a 2 bay NAS (I've got limited storage requirements and 2x4TB in Raid1 is enough to cover disk failure)

Im torn between grabbing something like the TS-251+ or the DS216 or 215+. My budget is not set in stone, i'm looking for futureproofness mostly so happy to spend more now to get that.

Additionally, is anyone with a QNAP using Onedrive for Cloud Backup? I've got th 1tb free with the Office 365 subscription and wanted to use that for offsite backup, but not sure if that works on the QNAP - I know it does on the Synology.

Cheers

It sounds like you have modest expectations from your NAS. Should you opt for a Synology then consider their x16 models, as they support their units for 5 years only.

I still run a perfectly functional DS209+II, last updated to DSM4.2. But the unit isn't supported by the latest updates, soon to be at DSM6.

If future proofing extends beyond 5 years for you, I'd see how long QNAP support their units for.
