If I'm not mistaken, 329GB in 10 hours & 25 mins equates to about 9MB/s.

Pretty good utilisation for a 100Mb network but you seriously need to get gigabit ethernet installed - standard fast ethernet really doesn't cut it anymore.

I was thinking of purchasing this model of NAS. What configuration is your hard drives?

What do you think of the quality and ease of use of the unit please?

I have three 1.5TB seagates in a raid5 configuration. so there is one spare slot. i have another (same model) drive in my pc which is my D drive which stores everything, except video. I bought the same drive for the D drive because when the 3Gig I have in the Qnap becomes low, I can use that without any possible conflictions, increasing my storage to 4.5Gig.

The D drive is mirrored to the Qnap using Super Flexable File Syncronizer. The reason behind the mirroring; i want fast access to specific files (docs, photos etc) but still make sure they are backed up. Video files are not on the D drive because i stream them to a media player, wirelessly, downstairs, plus they are not important in the same way my photos are.
