QNAP TS230 - SSD question

Hi,

I have a QNAP TS230 NAS - with x2 4tb drives installed in RAID.
Can I add a small SSD via USB3, to speed up the cache?

No. Or it's at least very unlikely it will accept cache via USB. And I don't think it has any cache to be speeded up anyway.
The only way to speed it up would be to replace the HDDs with SSDs but you might then find the Realtek CPU can't make full use of them.

Bah, thought I could have given it a little boost without much effort or cost.

Bluntly, buy something better. It's a bottom-of-the-range NAS and not designed to be upgradeable.
