how much did it cost you, and what do you have to do to a standard one to road legal it? whats the tax / insurance like?
after renting one many years in a row on little greek party islands, ive always wanted to dip my toe to make the 2 mile commute to work a little more fun

!!
Hey Mate,
tbh it costs about £1500 to make a none road legal Quad road legal (PLG) without going down the Agricultural (AGRI) route. Problem with the Agri route is that when the 3 years are up (After new registration) you will really struggle to get an MOT and thus its then illegal to ride on the road.
Much cheaper in the long run to Buy a road legal Quad and these can start at Around £1100 (Almost New) where as mine was £3200 when I got it and that's on the road.
Check out the bay for 2nd hand ones but make sure its registered as a Private Light Goods (PLG) and not the Agri.
Good ones to look for are Quadzilla's and Apache's. These are Cheapish but offer great build quality and reliability.
Try to avoid the cheap Chinese quads as they are hardly ever put together correctly and then they fall apart anyway's plus there are horror stories that mention such delights as the rear axle's failing or the front wheel bearings falling to bits
I would highly recommend getting a quad, I haven't had as much fun in a long time, well there was that time with the with the nurse and the lub...er will keep this one to myself

anyway let me know if I can help in anyway. I have just started a local Quad and ATV club here in Cornwall and can help with contacts and insurance etc.
Here's where I got mine from:
http://www.ncmc.co.uk/
Tax is £68.00 for 6 months, Insurance for me is £254.00 fullycomp (36 yrs old, no no-claims pl31 postcode) through Quadsure (Adrian Flux) whom I can offer some discount as I am affiliated with them
