Quake 3 for a mac 10?

Is there actually a demo or whatever version of quake 3 that will run on a mac os10, osx?

Yes - the standard demo will run on Mac OS X under Mac Classic (or something similar - I sold my mac over 8 months ago!)

Just install that and then you'll be able to play Quake III

standard demo ....as in the mac demo...cos someone is trying to install the mac demo on his mac and it isnt working at all....

Does he have Mac Classic? He needs that

I just installed the Mac demo on my Mac (running OS X) and it worked without a dream. As it's coded for OS 9 though you will need Mac Classic for it to work

You can install it from the Mac OS X install CD

It's the operating system install CD (just like the Windows CD). It should be in the box of bits he got with the Mac

If you let it Autorun then Mac Classic will be on the various install options - it might be under extra applications or something similar

Ah - does he have anything with the Mac?

Not sure how it works but maybe someone can lend him a CD? There's a Mac Classic option in the equivalent of the Windows Control Panel - maybe that'll be able to install it?

Perhaps he can get it from the Apple Mac website?

If its later than 2004 then your stuffed as classic will NOT work AFAIK.

I have a Pre 2004 PMG4 and with 10.4 it won't allow me to install classic. But luckily I have all the programs for OS X now but I still have 10.3 + OS 9.2.2 on a 2nd HD.

Classic won't be downloadable from Apple as they won't support it anymore. You can run it on any PowerPC Mac from within Mac OS X. You just can't boot into it (OS 9.2.2) on a Mac made after 2004.

that download didnt work.. i tried that before...

however he didnt change any settings.. so i dont know... should he do something first before installing it?
