Quake Live Problem

So, I was looking into Quake Live as I fancied a quick shooter to pass 10-15 mins whenever...

I signed up... and every time I try to enter a game it asks me to sign up again!!!

I'm already signed in, I can even change the options, avatar, controls etc. But still, whenever I try to enter a game (online OR practice) it asks me to sign up again.

Anyone else had this?

I'm running windows 7 and the latest Intercrap Explorer (the regular, not 64bit version)
 
I had this problem as well, just restart firefox few times and should be fine then, if not log off and log back in or restart pc.

You an always try different browser as well ie IE or Firefox or Opera but I believe there are different plugins for each browser.

Yet you say "Intercrap explorer". Sounds like changing over to Firefox would be worth your while. What didn't you like about it? Try out some themes and add-ons to change how it looks
 
You don't need to switch over, you could use firefox solely for quakelive and do the rest of browsing using IE.

As already suggested - you could use firefox only for QuakeLive :)

For general browsing I'd also recommend trying out google chrome. It's improved a lot since it first came out.
 
Wow, that's quite a group decision there! I'll try out Firefox again if only just for Quake and see how it goes... Maybe with different themes as suggested (didn't know that was possible).

I've been looking into google chrome - Love the minimalist look and speed but it seems a bit commercial to me tbh. Not a fan of tabs or the focus on browsing history (I keep mine clear, tis unnecessary).

Yeah, I said 'Intercrap Explorer' just cause of the odd little problem like this - venting some frustration is all ;-)

I use internet explorer and quake live works fine for me. I think i had to turn off the inprivate filtering (bottom right next to the zoom button) for it to work though. Maybe try that.
 
Personally I don't use firefox much either. Opera is much better for a fast, feature-rich experience, or Chrome for a lean, fast experience.

Both work with Quake Live last I checked.

Edit: oops, looks like I misremembered. *throws self into internet hall of shame* Firefox it is *sigh*

I've always had that problem with IE + QL - but it works flawlessly with firefox.

TBH tho much as I like quakelive, its missing the casual game modes/mods where you could just jump in and play for a few minutes without having to worry too much about objectives, etc. or getting owned by people who've spent their entire lives honing their duelling skills and they made a right mess of the netcode and never would admit it or fix it so I gave up playing. As they apparently lack the skills to implement proper lag compensation they should have either gone with full on backwards reconcilliation or ripped it out entirely... the amateurish attempts at tweaking it meant they killed most of the advantages and actually made it worse to play on <30ms ping than not having compensation at all!

I dislike the stats system. I know it's not something to be bothered about, yet for some reason, it does bother me. For example, if I join a server that says 'your skill higher' I feel I should win the game, and then usually don't. I would play more if there was an option to hide stats so people can't see how much I've been owned. :p
 
Just because the game says you're above the skill of those on the server doesn't necessarily mean you'll win.

There are far more factors than the simple number which represents your skill level.

Don't worry about stats too much, losses mean learning and learning means improvement which will lead you to victory (or a better chance at victory).
