I replayed quake right through about 6 months ago - suprising how well it stands up with age I quite enjoyed playing through it.

nice. Isn't the quickest time for just speed running the game 16:49 ?

this video shows the player absolutely ripping apart the maps and enemies.

I find it more bonkers that we now like in a world where you can host 11 gigs of video and let as many people as possible view it very easily and for no charge

Wondering if they might be cheating the kill scores tho :( pretty sure I've seen them bypass a couple of monsters without killing then and not gone back to yet there was 100% kill score at the end.

Got to trust those speedrunners and their claims otherwise the speedrunning community would be in tatters. :)

Maybe they killed them quite quickly giving the impression that they didn't?

nah they definitely went past without killing them and it wasn't parts you revist it later normally especially not on a speed run. I'm not 100% sure but definitely seemed like they didn't go back and kill them.

333 was the FPS limit for all the jumps!

well it was when i played competitively.

For jumps yeah but from memory 333 wasn't allowed on actual DM/CTF/etc servers usually due to causing high server load/problems for some people? I could be remembering things wrong though.

edit: Just remembering the first PC I played it on. AMD 450mhz cpu and a Riva TNT2 Ultra. 192MB of ram too. Awesome stuff.

the monsters can kill them selves. It seems they often run past monsters but sweep back around with quad. also the monsters will follow. There was 2 maps where they got a kill after the end screen was up. at around 14 mins theres some pretty nice quake plyin'
