Quality case with 5.25 bay

I don't think it will help much, but in the end I just bought the R6. It doesn't look as out-of-place in my desk as I'd imagined for its size, although I'm running a mATX board temporarily which does look a bit lost inside. Quality of the case though is very good indeed.
Coolermaster have a fair few options, my MasterCase Maker 5 had the option of two 5.25" bays, i removed the bracket inside to accommodate a front mounted radiator but my initial idea was to have my radiator mounted in the top and still use my old lightscribe DVD drive.

The best thing about it is that there is door on the front that allows airflow in at the top and bottom while still cutting off a lot of sound, and additionally, to access the bays, it opens outwards from the bottom.

The modern equivalent appears to be this one: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/cool...ggjmOEE5cJb4Zk0R74hgRhzWBcupY11gaAk9EEALw_wcB

I'm personally excited to replace all the cases in my house soon with non optical style cases to minimize size. It actually opens up more possibilities for desk layout for me as I'm in a tight space.

I don't think my son has ever put spinning media into his PC. He probably doesn't even know it has a DVD drive! Even my bluray optical drive I've used literally a handful of times over the years, and that was mainly to rip my blurays so I never have to use optical media again. I personally am happy to away with it forever. I no longer use optical media except for console gaming purely because I refuse to pay a premium for digital, and want to be able to recover some costs when reselling games later on.

Optical Drive bays are an absolute must for me as I use those everyday -I'd rather have a decent metal constructed case with bays than any RGB (don't want a PC that's lit up like a Xmas tree) or tempered glass (sorry but tempered glass is a no for me as I've see it break far too many times) case.

this ones newer than the XL and still has a 5.25" bay. would be curious to know how you use an optical drive bay every day

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £121.69 (includes shipping: £11.70)

I run a small transcription service - transferring formats or writing home movies to DVD/Blu-rays so I have various DVD / bluray writers (I even have some original LG HD-DVD drives as well)

My Current case is a HAF 932 tower 6 x 5.25 bays FTW

I have just come onto this forum after looking for midi tower cases.I am one of those who still use two optical drives regularly and at present use a Coolermaster Elite 335U Midi Tower with two od and two 3.5 i/o trays.
It is perfect for what I need except I would like a glass or acrylic side panel. I have 3 hard drives and really can not see the point of external drives when everything is in one case.
I suppose I could make my own side panel.
